Warehouses & Manufacturing Facilities
Even with a structure as big as a warehouse, we are able to complete work in a timely manner. Our warehouse and manufacturing clients often come back to hire us for other commercial construction projects when it’s time to expand their facilities.
Northstar developed a design/build manufacturing facility for this family-owned machine shop. The owner specifically wanted to incorporate “green” building features into the project while maintaining a reasonable budget. Therefore, Northstar incorporated such features as passive solar heating, low-energy light fixtures, low-flow plumbing fixtures, radiant heat in floors (to be later adapted to solar heating), recycled steel materials for building structure and exterior, and previous pavement to eliminate the need for storm water management systems.
Northstar has maintained a long working relationship with Edgemere Terminals performing numerous maintenance projects and repairs to their trucking facilities. Projects have included removal and replacement of columns, walls, and other structural elements damaged by truck and forklift accidents, and installation of a new facade on their warehouse. When the time came to upgrade their offices, they requested Northstar to design and construct a new facility that projected a strong image for their company, provided the amenities they needed, and was within a reasonable budget.
Northstar created a two story facility within the footprint of their existing office building. The new structure was a wood framed building sheathed in brick; this provided an economical construction for this commercial structure. The first floor of the facility encompassed their dispatch and business office, as well as a trucker’s room which can be isolated from the rest of the operation during “off” hours. The second floor contains oversize executive offices that overlook the truck yard as well as a conference room large enough for company staff meetings.
Kaydon Ring & Seal Locker Room
Northstar was invited to submit a proposal for the renovation of Kaydon Ring & Seal’s men’s & women’s locker & toilet facilities. These areas had served the company well for over 50 years, and aside from the men’s toilet room, were not serviceable.
By following the parameters of the proposal requirements, and studying the existing conditions, Northstar was able to present Kaydon with a proposal that met their requirements and was approximately 20% below the other bidders proposals.
