We are a General Contractor, and not a broker, and therefore we perform critical aspects of our project with our own crews.  This allows us to maintain continuity of the construction process, and to assure the quality and timely completion of your project.  We specialize in design/build projects of any size. 


Through the utilization of our in house computer aided design system (CAD) and experienced staff, your ideas, input, and budget are matched with our knowledge of construction to provide effective and reliable solutions to your building requirements.

Northstar strives to maintain a low overhead, this allows us to be extremely competitive in bidding projects.  In addition, we have partnered with our suppliers and subcontractors to provide economical and accurate pricing on all projects. 

Northstar works to establish a level of trust between the contractor and owner that often does not exist in the construction industry.  We further this trust by offering complete disclosure of construction cost to the owner based upon an agreed scope of work prior to the project’s commencement. . Only significant changes to the materials and scope of work, as requested and approved by the Owner, may cause any additional cost to the project. 

Our cost reflect the actual material, labor, and subcontractor costs for the project onto which we apply an 9% overhead and a 6% profit. Furthermore, if the final audit of job cost upon completion of the project determines that we have incurred any savings on the overall project, then, of course, these savings are returned to the Owner. By operating in this environment of disclosure, the Owner can be assured that the contractor has not incorporated a windfall profit into the project cost.





GREEN CONSTRUCTION:


Recently, there has been a lot of discussion of “going green”, “building green”, and LEED Certified buildings. Northstar has always utilized these sound building techniques and procedures on our projects. We have affirmed our commitment to “Go Green” by becoming a “Green Advantage Certified” contractor. In addition, we have on LEED accredited personnel.  In addition, we have allied ourselves with material suppliers such as Nucor Metal Buildings, that have a corporate commitment to the environment through their extensive use of recycled materials and minimization of their carbon footprint whether our clients specifically request it or not, we are continually striving to “Build  Green”. Not only is it the right thing to do, building green saves our clients money in the process. From recycling construction debris, to incorporating passive solar heat, or to eliminating onsite water usage, Northstar is making a difference on each project we construct.


In recent years, the LEED Certification Program has been developed to acknowledged facilities that have been constructed utilizing a standard rating system of Environmentally sound building practices. It is the decision of the building’s ownership to determine if they would like to pursue this prestigious certification. Northstar is prepared to work with the discerning Owner to obtain this certification with our knowledge and LEED accredited staff.
